We can all be Santa Claus
9.Dec.2011
I have been a very good boy this year and there are so many beautiful things that I want. A so-black Kelly; a new computer; a double wallet from ViciousVenom… the list can go on and on.
Yet, Christmas is not about all the material things at all but about giving to others and spreading joy and happiness to all those around us. So this year, let's all make Christmas about giving and sharing with those in need of our help.
Did you know that despite the relative economic prosperity, over 18% of the Hong Kong population lives under the poverty line? Or that more than 300,000 children do not receive three meals a day?

Although there are government services that aim to do something about this, the reality is that application procedures are a headache not to mention that queues for such services can be long. This is where the local food banks come in as they are a direct link between food vendors (sometime creator of food waste) and the hungry. Local charities such as Feeding Hong Kong and Foodlink are the most effective solutions to help fix the hunger issue in Hong Kong.
This year, why not give the best gift of all? Below I share how this can be done.
Feeding Hong Kong mainly focus on dry stored foods. Food sources cover distributors, manufacturers and retailers. If you are interested, you can:
• Simply make a cheque payable to ‘Feeding Hong Kong Limited’, and mail it to Unit A06, 8/F., Block A1, Yau Tong Industrial City, 17-25 Ko Fai Road, Kowloon. (Receipts for tax purposes are issued for any donation over HK$100)
• Donate food directly to their warehouse. High demand items including rice; noodles; cooking oil, canned vegetables; meat and fish; cereal; UHT milk and powered baby milk.

On the other hand, Foodlink mainly focuses on delivering safe to eat surplus food from hotels and restaurants within two hours of disposal to the recipients. If this is up your alley, please:
• Send a cheque payable to ‘Foodlink Foundation Limited’, and mail it to 88 Tai Tam Reservoir Road, C1, Accounts Department, Hong Kong. (Receipts for tax purposes are issued for any donation over HK$100). Alternatively, you could make a direct donation by way of transfer to Foodlink's HSBC account 640-102398-838
Remember, we can all be Santa Claus this year.
Biography
After eight years in private banking, Piecco was spiritually exhausted from calling traders at ungodly hours to check on stock prices. He was absolutely certain that the purpose of life was not in any way related to stocks, bonds or hedge funds. In order to escape the ‘financial chaos’ he felt his life was engulfed by, he left the banking industry and spent his time completing a 200-hour yoga teachers’ training program. The intense yoga sessions brought Piecco clarity and he decided to wholeheartedly pursue the love of his life - fashion.
Paris was the obvious first stop. With his exotic handbag collection in tow, Piecco arrived in Paris and began knocking on every fashion door. Within 3 days, a boutique in Palais Royal signed his first deal. Empowered by his initial success, he bravely strutted into L'Eclaireur with his second collection and things just continued to snowball...
Apart from designing, Piecco is also sharing his knowledge of all things fashion through writing and his fashion workshops with topics ranging from vintage to resort wear. 'It was interesting working in the banking industry, but it is definitely more fulfilling being a full-time yogi-designer-business owner who can now add blogging to my repertoire.' He shares, with a smile on his face.
