The Benefits of Pomegranate
16.Jan
I love pomegranates. There has been extensive research in recent years on the benefits of this fruit. It is said that they are packed with antioxidants, vitamins and enzymes that help keep cholesterol at bay. In many ways, they have the same effect as aspirin as they help to thin the blood.
Some studies even suggest that pomegranate juice can help destroy breast cancer cells, as well as slow the growth of prostate cancer. For men in particular several research studies have shown that this juice can be extremely beneficial. According to health website Health Diaries, “In a study of 50 men who had undergone treatment for prostate cancer, eight ounces of pomegranate juice per day kept PSA levels stable, reducing the need for further treatment such as chemotherapy or hormone therapy.”

And here are some benefits for women: it has been known to help hormonal imbalances and have been known to manage hormonal shifts. Some homeopaths even prescribe it to help hormonal changes during menopause.
And for those of us who are concerned with the signs of ageing, pomegranates nourish the skin thanks to large amounts of antioxidants.
Make sure you are consuming pomegranate juice that is unsweetened or better yet, juice them yourself! It makes a great drink when dehydrated after a long night out and all at the same time, it gives your body the lift and pick me up it needs for the next day.
