The Benefits of Coconut: Coconut Meat
16.Nov.2011
In my last two column entries, we’ve learnt the basic as to why coconut water and coconut oil are beneficial for us. We’ve seen how every part of this tropical fruit has a great deal to offer.
One of the most notable facts about coconut meat is that the fat content in the coconut is a pure source of energy. In fact, the fat in coconut meat is the type of fat that “does not pull on the body’s reserve energy”, according to nutritionandyou.com. They also write that coconut meat contains three specific fatty acids, and these are lauric acid, capric acid and caprylic acid.
So what is so great about these fatty acids?
It is said that among the three acids, Lauric acid has the most anti-viral and anti-fungal properties for the body. Even though this acts like an antibiotic, it does not harm the natural flora of the body.

When I was on a cleanse in hope of detoxing my body, eating coconut meat and drinking the water, helped to clean my body well and all at the same time helped to energize me. I was not left feeling limp or tired at all. It was also suggested that I drink the water and eat the meat, to help with candida. In addition to this, I found that my blood sugar levels were also more stable, consequently I had less cravings less, my weight was regulated and stabilized.
So we have seen how all the elements of the coconut are amazingly good for us. It almost makes me feel like jetting off to Thailand just to enjoy them every morning.
