Shangliu Tatler captivated its VIP guests at the Moulin Rouge-themed 10th anniversary ball in Shanghai. Together the food and entertainment made Shangliu Tatler’s 10th anniversary ball a definite climax to the year and a great way to end the 2011 social calendar in China.
Shangliu Tatler ball, one of the most anticipated black tie gala dinner event left a fond memory in the hearts of the 370 distinguished personalilites who attended the event. For the event, the grand ballroom of Kerry Hotel Shanghai by Shangri-La Group was meticulously coverted into a musical theatre inspired by Moulin Rouge, a design which saw the guests twisting to a night in Montmartre.
A good mix of new faces and social circuit regulars were among the attendees of the ball, that including prominent Shanghai energy developer Yu Haowei and his wife Yan wei; property tycoons Charles Yan, Tu Haiming, Charles Tong, T.K. & Grace Pan, Liu Bin and Winnie Sun; leading manufacturers Grace Hee and Edward & Stepheni Smith; notable businessmen and women Joan Zhang, Stanley & Amy Chan, Tanya Zhao, Yang Xiaoqian; second generation Shangliu Tatler-types Henry Yeung, Natalie Hong, and Mark Chang; Robert Wan, Maggie Chu, Simon Ma, Mary Ma, Rick & Lina Wang, Hervé de Bentzmann, and Consul Generals; just to name a few.
Guests started the night off by mingling over cocktails and champagne under the Moulin Rouge-inspired windmill in the cocktail foyer. Shangliu Tatler dressed the grand ballroom in a vibrant shade of red matched with black and constructed an exquisite two-level musical stage to further the Moulin Rouge theme. Kicking off the gala dinner was a fervent can-can dance; accompanied by an aerial performance; a vocal performance of songs from the popular Moulin Rouge soundtrack, a fashion show and a musical medley finale were presented.

The highlights of the evening however, was the speech by chairman, CEO of Edipresse Asia & regional group publisher, Barrie Goodridge, and the award ceremony. On the night, Goodridge revealed the ambitious yet exciting strategy he had for the Shangliu Tatler publication: distributing the redesigned Shangliu Tatler on a national level in 24 cities across China in 2012. In the award ceremony, distingusihed individuals from Shanghai were recognised for their contribution to society.

The night ended on a high note as guests streamed onto the dance floor after the finale music medley performance and celebrations were taken to the after party. The after party saw a melodious karaoke session headed by A-Lister Simon Ma. Other guests caught up with one another enjoying cigars to wrap up the night.
