From feasting on a delicious meal, mingling to dancing on the floor along to the Party Rock Anthem – the Malaysia Tatler 22nd Anniversary Ball was certainly an affair to remember

This year’s Malaysia Tatler Ball was an intimate and glamorous event with no expenses spared on the ambience, food, drinks and entertainment. This lavish party was held at the grand ballroom of the Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur, where guests started off the evening socialising at the cocktail lounge beneath the grand chandeliers and savouring cocktails courtesy of Moët Hennessy Diageo.

The guests for the evening came from all corners of the world: Kota Kinabalu, Kuching, New York, London and Hong Kong. Newcomers to the ball included Dato’ Sri Mohd Khamil Jamil and Datin Sri Azian Abdul Talib, Datin Sri Intan Nur Rowena and her two daughters; Dato' Liaw Choon Liang and his wife Datin Joyce Goh; Dato’ Mohamed Safri and Datin Esmila Saruji; Datuk Wira Daim and Sabrena Nor Khalid Izhar; and many other new faces. Other cream of the crop in attendance included Tunku Dara Naquiah, Tengku Meriam. Datin Alissa Fitri and Dato’ Sufian Majid as well as other distinctive guests frequently seen on the social circuit. We were also happy to see expectant mothers-to-be such as Marion Caunter, Naziha Nageeb and Zaireen Ibrahim don their gowns for the party of the year.

When the ballroom doors opened, guests were incredibly impressed by the décor inside, stopping to snap images of the beautifully erected white tree structures all around the ballroom, accessorised with translucent ribbons and leaves, as well as crystal beads. They also marvelled at the bouquets of white and grey orchids arranged in the centrepiece of every table artfully composed by Razak Ahmad and his team from Flora, as well as the exquisite Porsche car models displayed at the front and the back of the ballroom.

The evening officially began with speeches from managing director of Malaysia Tatler, Florence Fang, followed by the CEO of Edipresse Asia, Barrie Goodridge – in which they respectively thanked everyone for being present at the event. Together with Barrie’s wife Rita, Serge Aymon, CFO of Edipresse Asia, and the rest of the Malaysia Tatler staff, toasted to the magazine’s 22nd birthday.

Guests enjoyed the lovely dinner prepared by the masterful kitchen maestros of Shangri-La Hotel Kuala Lumpur. In between courses, door gifts by Lancome were handed out while the beaus of the ball could be found exchanging business cards at the cigar lounge specially provided for the night by FWC Connoisseurs. A specially-invited band, Sky High, kept the mood of the event on a high all night long with spectacular music. As always, the awards ceremony was the highlight of the evening and the following notable guests were presented an award this year:
