Madeleine Thompson Launches at Four Seasons Hong Kong

For the first time in Asia, Hong Kong-raised designer Madeleine Thompson, who is also the fiancé of Josh Green (they are to be married this November in Phuket), launches her much sought after Cashmere line at The Four Seasons Hong Kong.
With the likes of Sienna Miller, Kate Moss and Poppy Delevingne wearing her Beanies, asymmetrical jumpers and striped dresses, it's now our turn. Between launching a new line for Cowshed in the UK and organising her upcoming wedding– Asia Tatler sits town with the fashion designer and learn a little more about Madeline Thompson’s likes, loves and loathes!
Asia Tatler: What is your favourite film of all time?
Madeleine Thompson: Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn; it's just magical.
Asia Tatler: Your drink to detox and retox?
Madeleine Thompson: Detox - fresh coconut juice! It's so delicious and so good for you, and to retox a mango/mint mojito - we're having them at our wedding!
Asia Tatler: Where do you go to escape and unwind?
Madeleine Thompson: We have a little weekend place by the water in Sai Kung, I immediately relax as soon as I get out there. You can only hear the boats on the water - no cars. It transports you immediately away from the hustle and bustle of real life.

Asia Tatler: What’s your most memorable holiday?
Madeleine Thompson: Safari in Kenya! Being a typical Hong Kong girl I had never seen animals in the wild before and it was life changing, total head explosion! And then to top it off Josh proposed, so that was that.
Asia Tatler: What is a typical day in the life on Madeleine Thompson?
Madeleine Thompson: I get up pretty early to deal with emails, there are always too many! I try and exercise once a day - whether it's taking the dog for a run or my new obsession, kick boxing! Most days I'm in the workshop going through deliveries or new collections - it's very busy but very rewarding.
Asia Tatler: What’s your latest discovery?
Madeleine Thompson: I love reading and the best book I’ve read for awhile is called The Hare with Amber Eyes by Edmund De Waal. It's like a gift when you discover a book like that.
Asia Tatler: Blackberry or iPhone?
Madeleine Thompson: Blackberry! I can't live without mine for work- does that make me boring? Probably.
Asia Tatler: In your opinion, what’s the best building in Hong Kong?
Madeleine Thompson: The old ones are the best ones in my opinion - and the best of the best is the HSBC building.
Asia Tatler: Don Draper or Donald Trump?
Madeleine Thompson: Don Draper! Why do we always like the bad boys? Mad Men is brilliant - but so sexist! I can't believe what women had to put up with in those days.
Asia Tatler: Which do you prefer savoury or sweet, and where?
Madeleine Thompson: My new obsession is the old fashion Sim's Sweet Shop in Bookazine! It has all the sweets that we had growing up - it's like a confectionary time warp! So joyous.
Asia Tatler: What item can’t you live without?
Madeleine Thompson: My mulberry bag - which takes us nicely to the next question....
Asia Tatler: Mulberry or Burberry?
Madeleine Thompson: MULBERRY, MULBERRY, MULBERRY - I am obsessed!
Asia Tatler: What is at the top three on your wish list?
Madeleine Thompson: If I was being really spoiled and if this wasn't the real world I would drive a Mercedes G-wagon whilst wearing my new Theyskens’ Theory Dress and some Charlotte Olympia shoes.
Asia Tatler: What is your most recent discovery?
Madeleine Thompson: I just had my teeth whitened - its the most amazing thing! Just an hour in the chair; no pain or sensitivity. Its going to be the next huge thing in HK and this place is the BEST. www.smilestudio.com.hk
Asia Tatler: What is your dream destination?
Madeleine Thompson: Pulau Joyo www.pulau-joyo.com - it's a tiny island off the coast of Singapore which is the coolest place in the world, it is your own robinson crusoe island with the most stunning beaches and water and amazing food. Heaven!

Asia Tatler: What is your biggest fear?
Madeleine Thompson: Losing the people I love.
Asia Tatler: Sky dive or Scuba dive?
Madeleine Thompson: Scuba Dive - I would never sky dive!
Asia Tatler: Your best kept secret in Hong Kong?
Madeleine Thompson: I like to treat myself by taking half an afternoon off for a treatment at the Four Seasons - they do the best massage and not only do they have the most fabulous steam and sauna area and you can use their beautiful pool overlooking the harbour. Best spa in Hong Kong!
