The city’s premiere boat show, the Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show will take place at the Gold Coast Yacht and Country Club over the weekend between May 7-8. And as the showing of luxury yachts seen in the previous year has proved, this is no show for the faint hearted, we’re speaking, or rather seeing, the crème de la crème in the industry exhibited there.

This year the boat show promises to be bigger and better, highlighted with entertainment including performances from Michael Wong Big Band & Friends and a fashion show from luxury brand Jaeger. But what really is the highlight is the boats on display, and to make sure you don’t miss the opportunity to see the best, below we give you our picks of the must-see yachts from the show.

1) Horizon V76

If you’re looking to be green while enjoying the ocean blues, this boat is for you. The Horizon designed by Canadian designing firm Gregory C. Marshall Design has introduced environmentally friendly and sustainable elements to this new design. The earthly features include solar panels for power and electricity, low power LED lights throughout and rope lights in the overheads just to name a few. And not only is the final product an environmental wonder but the building of the ship significantly cut back greenhouse gases traditionally given out.

2) CeeMag MK2

This new kid on the block from Netherlands is a force to be reckoned with: the 34-foot boat looks like a cross between a Robo-boat (belonging to fictional Robocop) and a submarine. The HK$4.5 million tour de force is made of aluminium giving it a sleek bachelor outfit, and surprisingly only weighs 4200kg. One of the fastest boats to be featured at the Hong Kong Gold Coast Boat Show this year, it boasts 42 knots per hour thanks to its two 630 hp Yanmar diesel engines.

3) Predator 92

Little needs to be said to justify a Sunseeker, as its outstanding performance and handsome design speaks louder then words. This HK$63 million motor monster brags bigger cabins (fits up to 10 guests and 5 crew), beautiful lines and has a cruising speed of up to 44 knots per hour, and can go up to 1000 nautical miles.

4) Accelera 98

For years now China and Taiwan has been the place to turn to for boats that are lighter on the wallet. And the Accelera 98 is a good confidence booster for the sector as this 98 foot yacht is the biggest luxury boat featured in the show. Amped with three floors of luxury, the all made in Mainland China boat is impressive by international standards.
