Since our fathers have clearly stolen the limelight all weekend, we thought the mothers shouldn't wait until next year's Mother's Day for their turn to shine. Highlighting maternal affection this week from Hong Kong Tatler's June 2000 issue, discover loving mother-daughter portraits of Harriet Tung, Teresa Tsang, Michelle Ong-Cheung, Lucy Yang, Dorothy Cheng, Reyna Harilela, Joanna Hotung and Vanessa Kwan, along with their daughters. Ten years ago, we asked these Hong Kong Tatler friends to share some candid details about their bond like what do they admire most about their mother, how do the pair spend quality time together, and why their mother is so special, and more. Read on to check out their loveable responses.
Mum's the Word (May 2000, Hong Kong Tatler)
Harriet and Leigh Tung
Hong Kong Tatler: What do you admire most about your mum?
Leigh Tung: Her grace. And she's very personable. She's really good at focusing on what's important.
HKT: What do you do together?
LT: We like to shop for make-up together - except we have different tastes. And we like to hike together.
Harriet Tung: And I'm able to keep up with her!
Michelle Ong-Cheung, Jennifer Cheung, Amanda Cheung and Adrian Cheung
HKT: What makes your mother special?
Amanda Cheung: She's very kind. Mum always gives us the best things
Adrian Cheung: Even when she is mad at us, she always forgives us. That's the best thing about her.
Lucy Yang and Charles Yang
HKT: What do you admire most about each other?
Charles Yang: She can be fairly stubborn at times, but at the same time, she is also very kind and puts herself last - not just for the family, but for friends and others as well.
